Comfort Found Only In God

It’s very obvious that we are living in a broken world. If you haven’t noticed, just go and turn on your local news and watch for a bit. That brokenness effects us individually, in our personal lives and in unique ways. We get so wrapped up in our hardships, we seek to solve our problems in any possible way we can—by ourselves. Are you living with the struggle with the effects of sin?

Instead of looking to God as the solution to our problems, so often we think that He is the problem. And we’re wrong. In the first verse of Isaiah 40 it says, “comfort, comfort my people, says your God.” God is the God of comfort. We can find comfort in His character: His wisdom, His greatness, uniqueness, and incompatibility. He is wise in that He knows personally each and every thing that goes on in our lives and uses it to make us more like Himself. He is great, He is so much bigger than we give him credit for and we are so much smaller than we usually think of ourselves. He is unique and incomparable in that He is unlike anything else we could ever imagine. If we have tasted and seen what the Lord is like, then everything else we search for and follow after is just a cheap knockoff. There is nothing and no one like Him.

God is all knowing, all powerful, completely unique, all loving, completely sovereign...and He cares for you.

Take comfort in Him. If you know Him, you are safe in His arms.
